Falls and fall-related injuries are significant public health issues for adults 65 years of age and older. Over a third of older adults (OA) fall each year and 10-20% of falls result in serious injuries such as fractures and head trauma. The annual direct medical costs in the US as a result of falls are estimated to exceed …
The purpose of this research study is to identify biological markers for schizophrenia and bipolar spectrum disorders and related mental illnesses. This information may enable us in the future to develop interventions to improve symptoms and functions or worsening of symptoms.
The 5-year K01 Mentored Research Scientist proposal will employ brain, neurocognitive, and computational tools (e.g., machine learning) to understand the impact of opioid-use disorder (OUD) and common co-occurring issues on executive function and clinical outcomes.
The purpose of this research is to measure the extent of lung inflammation between different groups of participants using a radioactive tracer called [18F]NOS. A radioactive tracer is a type of imaging drug that is labeled with a radioactive tag and injected into the body. - Between 18–45 years old - Nicotine …
This study investigates the changes in the brain that occur in the first three years following a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The purpose of this study is to compare the rate of brain tissue loss in individuals with TBI to those without, using healthy participants as a control group.Participants in …
Primary Objectives Determine biodistribution of the radioactive investigational drug, 11C M503 and calculate human dosimetry (at least 10 male and female participants). Demonstrate the feasibility of imaging the brain with the novel imaging agent 11C M503 Determine the most appropriate data analysis methodology. Determine whether there is selective uptake of …
Primary Objectives Determine biodistribution of the radioactive investigational drug, 11C HY-2-15 and calculate human dosimetry (at least 10 male and female participants). Demonstrate the feasibility of imaging the brain with the novel imaging agent 11C HY-2-15 Determine the most appropriate data analysis methodology. Determine whether there is selective uptake of …
Longitudinal study in patients with ALS and healthy controls. The study involves questionnaires, muscle strength assessments, sample collection (CSF + blood), pulmonary testing, and assessment of disease progression. The duration is 2 years with Q4M visits for patients with ALS.
The study is being conducted with healthy control individuals and people with opioid use disorder (OUD) to better understand brain and memory functioning in people with OUD. The study will test whether a 4-week memory training intervention (Memory Flexibility Training) improves memory in people with OUD.
The primary objective is to establish the merit and feasibility of QUTE-CE MRI vascular imaging biomarkers for detecting vascular abnormalities in (n=10) patients with TBI at least 6 months after injury compared to (n=10-16) healthy control (HC) subjects using IV Ferumoxytol as a contrast agent. The single timepoint visit includes: …
