Brief description of study

This observational research study is being conducted to study movement biomechanics of thumb joint range of motion.

Detailed description of study

By doing this study, we hope to learn how we can best create a way to measure functional limitations for people with thumb arthritis using wearable sensors. These wearable sensors are used to measure thumb joint range of motion and will be used to measure range of motion in people with thumb arthritis. This study is also hoping to determine if range of motion of the thumb improves after thumb joint “denervation”, which is a surgery that aims to reduce pain and increase range of motion.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Conditions: thumb arthritis, thumb CMC
Age: 18 years or above
Gender: All

Inclusion

Over the age of 18
Clinical diagnosis of thumb arthritis
Be able to understand and provide written informed consent

Exclusion

Connective tissue disorders such as Elhers-Danlos
Current or previous use of oral steroids
Pregnant or breastfeeding in past 12-months
