Study of subliminal processing, interoception, and food noise in adults (SIPS)
Brief description of study
Researchers at Monell Chemical Senses Center are conducting research on how eating behavior is influenced by internal body states and external food-related states. We are looking for healthy young adults (18 to 45) to participate in this study.
Detailed description of study
We are looking for volunteers to complete two in person study visits over the course of a few weeks. The first visit will last up to 3 hours and will be at Pennovation (3401 Grays Ferry), the second will last up to 2.5 hours and will be at Monell Chemical Senses Center (3500 Market Street). Participants will also be asked to complete two tasks online between in person visits. Each online task will take <15 minutes.
During the visits, participants will complete one MRI scan (~1 hour and 15 minutes), a variety of cognitive and behavioral tasks, questionnaires, a blood glucose test, a beverage sampling test, and body composition measures. Participants will be asked to fast for 8 hours before the session.
Participants will be compensated $120 for the first visit and $100 for the second visit. There will be a completion bonus for $20 for completing the between visit tasks. This results in up to $240 of possible compensation.
To determine if you qualify for the study, please fill out the screening form which will take 5 to 10 minutes. We will contact you if you are eligible.
