Brief description of study

This study is a biorepository that collects and stores ocular fluid specimens obtained during routine ophthalmic procedures. The purpose of the biorepository is to support future research aimed at understanding ocular diseases, identifying biomarkers, and improving diagnostic or therapeutic approaches. No extra procedures are performed for research purposes: only small volumes of ocular fluid that are already being removed as part of standard clinical care are collected and stored. Participation involves allowing the clinical team to contribute these excess samples to the biorepository along with limited, coded clinical information.

Detailed description of study

This study collects small amounts of ocular fluid that are already being removed during scheduled medically indicated ocular surgery. No extra procedures are performed for research, and only excess fluid that would otherwise be discarded is collected. The purpose of this biorepository is to support future research on eye diseases, biomarkers, and potential diagnostic or treatment improvements. The research team will also access limited medical information from participants’ medical records such as diagnosis, age, or details about the eye condition to help researchers understand the context of each sample. All samples and data are stored securely using coded identifiers to protect privacy. Participation involves minimal risk and no direct benefit, but the samples may contribute to future scientific and clinical advances.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Ophthalmology, eyes, eye surgery
  • Age: 18 years or above
  • Gender: All

Inclusion

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to give informed consent

  • Are scheduled for medically indicated intraocular surgery
