Achilles Tendon Rupture
Brief description of study
This observational research study is being conducted to determine how loading impacts Achilles tendon healing and function following an Achilles tendon rupture.
Detailed description of study
If you agree to join the study, you will be asked to complete biomechanical assessments in the Human Motion Lab during each of your clinical visits. Assessments will include ultrasound imaging, motion analysis, EMG, and wearable sensors. Your participation will last for approximately 1 year with each biomechanical assessment lasting approximately 60 minutes.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Achilles tendon rupture

Age: 18 years - 65 years

Gender: All
Inclusion
- Age of 18-65
- Present to clinic with acute Achilles tendon rupture
- Undergo surgical repair within 10 days of initial injury
- Be able to understand and provide written informed consent
Exclusion
- BMI 40 or over
- History of Achilles tendon rupture or chronic Achilles tendon rupture
- Connective tissue disorders such as Elhers-Danlos
- Current or previous use of oral
- steroids
- Pregnant or breastfeeding in past 12-months
