Brief description of study
This study aims to understand how your body forms a protective response after vaccination. We are studying the immune response to the tetanus/diphtheria vaccine.
Detailed description of study
The study consists of a screening visit followed by other study visits, if eligible. From the time of screening, you will be in this study for about 9 months.
You may be eligible if you are due for the Td/Tdap vaccine and plan to receive it but have not yet received it.
The Tetanus vaccination study includes: An initial screening visit (1 hour at most) to determine eligibility. If you qualify, you will be asked to come in for the following study visits: Study Visit 1: Pre-Donor Evaluation (30min) followed by Leukapheresis (approximately 2.5-4 hours). Visit 2: Vaccination at your place of choice (ie. PCP’s office, local pharmacy). Visit 3-9: Blood draws at different time points following the vaccination.
There are additional optional procedures that you may choose to participate in. These include: 1) Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of the lymph nodes under your armpit to see how protective antibodies are generated, and 2) Periodic blood draws/leukapheresis to examine how immune protection holds up long-term.
Compensation is provided after the initial screening visit if you are determined eligible in the study.

Inclusion
- Planning on receiving the Td/Tdap vaccine.
- Willing to consent to blood draws.
Exclusion
- Does not plan on receiving the Td/Tdap vaccine.
- Unable to consent to blood draws.
