We propose the use of 2 different study populations to first evaluate cancer access outcomes among patients enrolled in IMPaCT who subsequently receive a diagnosis of cancer, compared to University of Pennsylvania Health System administrative data of cancer patients not enrolled in IMPaCT who meet insurance and zipcode criteria; and second, to pilot and test implementation outcomes of a breast cancer-adapted CHW program in a single-arm pilot study with the following specific aims:
Aim 1: Evaluate the effectiveness of the CHW IMPaCT intervention on oncology clinic no-show rates in patients enrolled in IMPaCT from 2013-2022 who subsequently received a cancer diagnosis. Hypothesis: Patients who were enrolled in IMPaCT will have lower rates of no-show clinic visits compared to no-show rates of cancer patients in the same zip code not enrolled in IMPaCT.
Aim 2: Evaluate the acceptability, appropriateness, and patient perceived quality of health of a CHW-adapted intervention for breast cancer care. Hypothesis: Participants enrolled in the single arm CHW intervention will have higher then neutral acceptability, appropriateness and patient perceived quality of health.
