This study's primary objective will be to collect tissue & body fluid specimens for immediate analysis and short term storage, to obtain scientifically relevant clinical characteristics, and to maintain patient confidentiality in patients undergoing Thoracic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
To examine and identify cell markers which share a common link between tissue and blood samples. And to identify possible links between patient blood samples after surgery with intraoperative samples.
To determine the significance, (if any) of the changes in the patient's blood and the long term prognosis. Collection of tissue and blood specimens during surgery for thoracic diseases Secondary outcomes will include the correlation between clinical disease development and the presence of myeloid cell subtypes.
