Primary: Determine if influenza infection elicits antibodies that bind to and neutralize older influenza virus strains. Secondary: Characterize B cell and T cell responses to influenza virus infection. Specificity, quantity, and quality of serum antibodies to influenza viruses using assays including but not limited to FRNT, ELISA, ELLA, and HAI. We will compare antibody titers between different strains to understand if memory of de novo immune responses are generated following influenza infection based on inferred influenza exposure history. B cell and T cell specificity and functionality will be assessed using assays including but not limited to flow cytometry, ELISpot, and genetic lineage analyses. Results will help us to understand how influenza infection influences the generation of memory and de novo immune responses.
