Brief description of study

patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer will undergo a research PET/CT scan using the radiotracer 18F-FTT (FluorThanatrace) to image PARP-1 activity in the tumor. A sub-set of patients will have a second PET/CT scan to evaluate test-retest reproducibility. Tissue will be collected at the time of surgery for additional research pathology analysis. The study will be carried out at 3 centers with MDACC acting as the sIRB of record.
