Brief description of study
- Determine whether oral BHB supplementation is safe and tolerable in FAP.
- Determine whether oral BHB supplementations increases serum BHB levels in FAP.
- Investigate whether oral BHB supplementation leads to transcription and protein expression changes in the intestinal mucosa and polyps in FAP.
- Elucidate whether oral BHB supplementation in FAP reduces intestinal polyp burden. 1. Assessment of FAP patient tolerance of BHB supplementation through monitoring of side effects and/or intolerances and patient compliance. 1. Assessment of fasting serum BHB levels before, during, and after BHB supplementation to determine if BHB supplementation appreciably increases serum BHB levels in FAP.
- Comparison of both transcription and protein changes in the intestinal mucosa and polyps before and after BHB supplementation to determine if BHB supplementation is having measurable effects on the intestinal mucosa and polyps.
- Determination of whether BHB supplementation leads to a reduction in intestinal polyp burden in FAP.
