PREVENT
Brief description of study
A Reliance Agreement with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is requested (SMART IRB). Improved mechanical ventilation treatment strategies are needed to improve outcomes in ICU patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This study compares standard mechanical ventilation to a lung-stress oriented ventilation strategy in patients with ARDS. Personalized, precision ventilation directed by driving pressure and esophageal manometry, will be compared to usual-care ventilation.
