Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the presence of tight junctions in gingiva of individuals with periodontitis and peri-implantitis compared to non-inflamed gingiva. We will examine the presence of tight junctions identified by E-cadherin and Zo1 in both periodontitis and peri-implantitis compared to that without inflammation. We will examine the co-distribution of FOXO1 and b-catenin since their co-localization may promote formation of tight junctions.
