Kidney Hypoxia
Brief description of study
The objective of the proposed study is to determine the sensitivity of the new method to detect expected changes in rMRO2 from breathing air containing 21% oxygen versus air containing less oxygen (akin to changes seen at high altitudes). The effect of hypoxia on rMRO2 mimics the hypoxic state the kidneys undergo during early-stage kidney disease because of increased workload from hyperfiltration. Renal metabolic rate of oxygen (rMRO2) as measured in healthy adults breathing hypoxic gas. Blood flow rate.
