Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to investigate different oral and systemic problems including dental carries, periodontal disease, dry mouth, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis, observed in patients living with HIV on antiretroviral therapy. 

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: HIV,Antiretroviral,Vascular Disease,High Blood Pressure,Diabetes,High Cholesterol,Osteoporosis
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 99 Years
  • Gender: All

- 18 years of age or older. 
- Planning to stay in or around the Philadelphia area for the next 2 years.
- Have a lab confirmed diagnosis of HIV. 
- Taking antiretroviral therapy for at least one year. 
- No orthodontic brackets (like braces) on 8 or more teeth.
- No diagnosis of Sjogren’s syndrome or Sarcoidosis. 
- No radiation therapy or radioactive iodine therapy to the head or neck (for example: to treat cancer).
- No anti-osteoporosis medications before HIV diagnosis.
