Brief description of study
The purpose of this research program is to evaluate the effects of direct current transcranial stimulation (tDCS) on brain power. tDCS is a type of brain stimulation during which light electrical currents are applied to the scalp. The amount of current to be delivered is known to be safe, based on studies in hundreds of volunteers conducted to date, including studies in our center.
Detailed description of study
As a part of this research program participants will be asked to complete 9 program visits. Your first visit will be a medical screening visit to determine whether or not you are eligible for this study. The 8 subsequent visits will separated into two study periods. Each visit will be about 2 hours.
During each study period, participants will receive active stimulation or sham stimulation (similar to a placebo). The two study periods will be separated by a two week break. Prior research suggests that this treatment may provide benefits in terms of improved thinking abilities; this will be tested in the current research program.
The entire program will take 4-6 weeks for you to complete.
