Brief description of study
Join our Acne Research Study, where we aim to compare the effectiveness of Spironolactone and Doxycycline Hyclate in the treatment of moderate to severe acne in women. Both medications are common treatments for acne.
Detailed description of study
Study Overview
Our study seeks to compare the effectiveness of two common acne treatments. It is designed to advance our understanding of how these medications, Spironolactone and Doxycycline Hyclate, compare in the real-world.
Study Components
Participants will undergo skin assessments and have the option to participate in a parallel study exploring the impact of acne treatments on the skin microbiome and antibiotic resistance. Microbiome samples will be collected from specific areas on your face, behind your ear, and your throat.
Study Duration
Your involvement will last up to 16 weeks (4 months), during which you will attend three in-person study visits at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Compensation of up to $300 is provided for the completion of these study visits and study medication is provided free-of-cost.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: acne

Age: Between 16 Years - 40 Years

Gender: Female
- Assigned Female at birth
- Have at least 10 pimples on your face
- Not pregnant or trying to become pregnant
